Blog for You or Blog for Me?

January 18, 2017

Well, folks, as strong as I started with my monthly blog posting in 2016, somewhere along the way--about 6 months in--I got sidetracked.

Why you might ask? No, I didn't have another kiddo, leave my husband or hit the best seller list (I wish!). In actuality, I quit writing on my own blog site because I had other people asking me to write for theirs. Yep, I was writing so much for other people and other projects that I dropped the ball on my own blog column. (Not such a terrible problem to have: being over-worked in a career that you love??!?)

Despite my tangent, I'm back! And to kick off my return, I wanted to share with you some of the projects that had me too preoccupied to write for my own website. Thanks for your patience and for sticking with me on this journey! I'll be back with another post next month. Cross my quill and hope to type!

LUNA STATION QUARTERLY BLOG COLUMN

Five spec fiction posts written by Lady Morse Code (founder of the League of Extraordinary Authoresses). Funny, lighthearted and a chance to get to know a different female writer each post.

SPIDER ROAD PRESS WRITERS' BLOG

I've either written, edited or been the subject of six posts on this small feminist press' website. Each post is by, for and/or about strong women. I'm also an editorial consultant & office manager for SRP.

THE NANOWRIMO BLOG

After winning my first NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) last November--by finishing book one of my Feathers of the Phoenix series, in edits currently--the editor for their website blog reached out to me and asked me to write a post for them. I was honored and had a lot of fun using my beta reading skills/knowledge to help other writers with this one. I'll be back for NaNoWriMo 2017! :-)

WRITESPACE: WRITETIME BLOG

In March of last year, I wrote a post for this grassroots writing community (that I love dearly) about reading at open mic sessions. Out-of-the-box post, a joy to write and cathartic too. Hoping it's helped new and emerging writers take the plunge to read their work in public sessions. Mine is the second post on this webpage. Scroll down until you see "Inner Thoughts of an Open Mic Virgin" then enjoy!

Those are all of the blog posts I've written for other people/organizations/sites over the past year (thirteen of them in total). This year, I vow that no matter how many posts I write for others, I will make time to write blog posts for my own site/list too!

To get on my mailing list, click here and let me know you want to be added to the Bountiful Balcony Garden. (Or you can just say "Add me to your list". Whichever you prefer.) Newsletter comes out once a month and includes a link to my latest blog post, exciting news from the Bountiful Balcony, occasional writing tips, podcast reviews, and more. Thanks! Keep writing and reading! :-)
